Sanaa Lathan stars in the Netflix adaption of Trisha R. Thomas‘ ☛NAPPILY EVER AFTER (pub: Crown) debuting September 21st and I’m already planning my watch party!
I see the movie makers changed the main character’s name from Venus to Violet and can’t wait to discover what evolves and what stays from the original novel published in 2000. Sidenote: actress Halle Berry optioned the book circa 2001. Even though Halle didn’t make it back then, I am so delighted the powers that be at Netflix still see the value in this story coming to life on screen.
Per Netflix:
Violet Jones has a seemingly flawless life – a great job, a handsome doctor boyfriend, and a meticulously maintained perfect coiffure. But after an accident at the hair-dresser, each of these things start to unravel, and Violet begins to realize that she was living the life she thought she was supposed to live, not the one that she really wanted. Starring Sanaa Lathan, Ricky Whittle, Lyriq Bent with Ernie Hudson and Lynn Whitfield. Nappily Ever After premieres September 21st only on Netflix.
